PWCFUN has received this from our Friends on the Gold Coast. Many of us have ebjoyed the waterways up there before & I intend to continue to do so every chance I get. Please help with this cause in any way you can.

ATTENTION ALL PWC USERS
It has come to our attention today that there is a proposed ban of PWC users using the Harley Park (Grand Hotel) boat ramp to be voted in by Gold Coast City Council this Monday the 23rd of November at 1:00pm.
This proposal was instigated by a Labrador residential group known as NAG. This stands for the Noise Aggravation Group and consists of people who have been making complaints against jet skiers and boaties for many years. They have already had laws changed at this boat ramp in the past and will not stop until they clear out the water ways for good.
We as water lovers all have to unite and stand up for our right to use the Broadwater Waterways as we always have and not see a repeat of what happened in Sydney Harbour.
If you want to keep the Broadwater Waterways open to use at your leisure, please do one or more of the following things to show your support and get behind keeping our Waterways open.

What are our rights:
Personal watercraft registration fees have increased over 20% in the last year, one of the state government justifications for this was `improved public boating facilities with more capacity for launching and retrieval of recreational vessels’.
In other words it is OK to help pay for these facilities but not to use them.
For more information on why our registration has increased. http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/file/ebc57448c8bb4b2/Pdf_new_recreational_vessel_fees.pdf

What YOU can do to help:
1. Sign the petition at http://www.gopetition.com/online/32183.html
2. Join us for a peaceful rally outside GCCC Chambers from 8am - 12pm Monday the 23rd, November, 2009. (shade and refreshments will be supplied). We want to show Council members that the majority of watercraft owners are responsible families, so please bring everyone. The following link will get you to the right place http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=-28.001961,153.416069&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=17&sll=-28.002473,153.416841&sspn=0.007465,0.013926&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17
3. Phone GCCC on 1300 130 854 and tell them that you are a rate paying resident that strongly opposes this regulation.
4. Email GCCC councillor Margaret Grummitt on division4@goldcoast.qld.gov.au and Mayor Ron Clark on mayor@goldcoast.qld.gov.au
Attached is a email template that may be useful, you will need to cut and paste from this attachment.
Please don’t rely on everyone else to send the emails and make the calls, it only takes 5min to make a difference. Once restrictions start they will never be reversed and only make it easier for others to follow.

What is being done already:
There are laws in place now at the Harley Park boat ramp to stop Personal watercraft owners from starting and revving engines on the trailer out of water, to reduce ambient noise.
There is now a 6 Knot speed limit surround the Harley Park boat ramp.
Courtesy rider education programs from all manufactures are in place to better inform personal watercraft owner/riders on local regulations and courteous boating activities.
With 4-stroke engines having a 70% noise emissions improvement, noise pollution from personal watercraft is fast becoming a thing of the past.
If the laws that are in place now are obeyed and enforced we shouldn’t have any more trouble with the NAG Residents.
Everyone working together to limit excessive noise at all public boat ramp in residential areas will help keep personal watercraft owner stay free to enjoy all the Gold Coast waterways, and give local council no cause for introducing restrictions as a “knee jerk” reaction.
A flyer is also attached that can be printed and handed out.
Please contact your local PWC dealer for any information on this matter as all the manufacturers and dealerships will unite and fight for our right to have equall use of the Gold Coasts facilities. We own jet skis, and we also VOTE!

Submission regarding the proposed PWC ban at Harley Park Boat Ramp

Having recently been made aware of the proposed ban of PWC at the Harley Street boat ramp, I wish to submit the following points for consideration.

1. PWC owners pay recreational vessel registration fees to the State Government, these fees were recently increased to pay for improved public boating facilities with more capacity for launching and retrieval of recreational vessels, therefore are entitled to use these facilities.
2. Banning of PWC from this boat ramp will put additional pressure on other boat ramps. There is no parking at the Loders Creek boat ramp and The Spit is a long drive for Northern Gold Coast residents.
3. ETC

Proposals

• That the current bylaw prohibiting the starting of watercraft out of the water be strictly enforced.

Yippee
Boats dont make noise huh
Petition done.

One thing that comes to mind here is that we should try and do what we can to stop people thinking like this.
I have, in the past, seen some idiots that give pwc users a bad name.
Laws are made for the abusers, not the users.
